Kakapo Room  |  3.5 - 5 years

The Kakapo room is for children aged 3.5 years until they go to school at 5 years old.

Our preschool program is planned to give your child all the opportunities to develop their skills to be ready for school. When you come for a visit our teachers will answer all your questions regarding the details of this preschool program.

Meet the Teachers

  • Verdette | Team Leader

Kia ora, my name is Verdette and it is wonderful to be part of your child's learning. I've been at Small Fries since it opened in February 2012. The most important part of being a teacher for me is to love your children as if they were my own! I always wanted to be a teacher since I was a child myself so I am living my dream! When I am home, I love reading and relaxing with my family and friends. I am in an accapella group and love music so my favourite activity is doing singing and dancing with the children. I have a post graduate diploma in ECE.

  • Inge

Hi, my name is Inge and I joined Small Fries in June 2016. I am a qualified fully registered ECE teacher with a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education (Montessori specialty). I have worked as a visiting lecturer for a year and as as preschool teacher for six years. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to be part of the community here. Children need to know that they are special in God's eyes and that He has a plan for their lives. I love to help develop the children's skills so they can be a blessing to others. I am married and have been blessed with a teenage daughter. I love reading, gardening and taking the dogs out for a walk.

  • Bexx

I have been working at Small Fries since June 2012 and have enjoyed every second of it so far! I love working here, it''s such a special place. My favourite thing to do with the children is art. I enjoy photography, baking/cooking in my spare time and have had a big passion for motorsport from a young age.

Kia ora koutou katoa.  Hello Everyone.

Ko Jonathan taku ingoa.  My name is Jonathan.

No South Africa ahau.  I'm from South Africa.

Ko Glenfield ahau.  I live in Glenfield.

I have completed my training of Bachelor of Education at New Zealand Tertiary College.  I am originally from South Africa where it is called a rainbow nation.  Now I live in New Zealand where I meet even more diverse cultures thank back in my homeland, which enabled me to become a culturally sensitive teacher.  I believe that teachers should be culturally competent and us the learners culture that they bring to the learning environment as a 'building block.' On the weekends I love to spend time with my family especially going to the beach and swimming in the ocean, and if the weather permits a bit of a BBQ.
