Piwakawaka Room

The Piwakawaka room is for infants starting from 3 months. The room has lots of space to accommodate for the developmental stages of rolling, crawling and walking. The environment is designed to help the children explore and develop at their own pace. We work alongside parents and whanau to help build consistent routines so it is an easy transition from home to Small Fries. We have a wonderful team of teachers who provide love, respect and quality care for all who come through our doors.

Meet the Teachers

  • Mihee  |  team leader

Hi, my name is Mihee and I am a teacher in the Piwakawaka room, I am originally from South Korea.  I have been working at Small Fries since May 2015 and am pleased to be a part of the family.

I have been working with children for several years. I completed my Graduate Diploma in ECE Teaching and am a full registered teacher. I love working and learning with children, I am passionate about realising the uniqueness of each child, stimulating and supporting the children to extend their ideas. I am also passionate about teaching children with Christian world view.

When I am not working, I love spending time with family and friends and travelling around.

  • Rachel

Kia Ora, my name is Rachel. I grew up in India and lived there until I turned 18. While I was still at school, I volunteered a lot of my free time in a creche where I realised how important it was to me to see children succeed.

When I moved to New Zealand, I started volunteering at Small Fries as a student teacher in 2012 while training for a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in April 2015 where I now hold a role as a teacher in the Piwakawaka room. I love doing lots of messy play and art activities and look forward to having lots of fun in this room.
